Concrete Levelling For Levelling Driveways

Levelling Driveways

Driveways are not only a functional extension to your house but an important element in your overall curb appeal. Regular driveway maintenance should be part of your home maintenance plan. Driveways connect to your foundation (or garage pad) as well as sidewalks. Each of these slabs of concrete can shift and settle separately and can cause gaps, cracks and ultimately unevenness between them as well as issues within the driveway itself.

There are several reasons driveways are prone to cracking and sinking:
● Water and Septic Lines: These lines can be underneath your driveway and are installed with dirt that is backfilled. After time, the dirt settles leaving a gap between the concrete and the ground. If the gap is left unfilled it will begin to sink.
● The Home’s Foundation: As our ground settles, the backfill against the foundation of your home settles which can result in a failure of the dowels that are drilled into the foundation which are there to maintain the driveway may fail.
● Other reasons: water penetration along with our constant freeze/thaw process due to our Alberta climate and a poor quality sub-base.
